Ronaldo’s welcome speech to Diogo Jota
“It’s hard to understand. Just recently, we were wearing the same Portuguese shirt. Just recently, you were just married. I want to send my condolences to your family, your wife and your children. I hope they will be strong and bright in this life. I know you will always be with them. Forever Diogo and Andre. We miss you so much”, Cristiano Ronaldo wrote on his personal page.

On the morning of July 3, the football world was shocked by the news that Diogo Jota and his younger brother (midfielder Andre Silva of Penefiel Club) died in a horrific traffic accident in Zamora, Sanabria (Spain).
The two brothers’ sled exploded before they were passing at high speed, then lost control, went off the road and caught fire fiercely. Diogo Jota and Andre Silva both died in the accident because they did not react to get out of the car. It was a morning that Portuguese football will never forget, when a pillar, and a potential factor, passed away forever.
Diogo Jota and Cristiano Ronaldo just won the 2024 – 2025 Nations League with Portugal after defeating Spain in the final. In the Portuguese national team jersey, Jota and Ronaldo have conquered the Nations League twice, reached the quarter-finals of EURO 2024 and the 2022 World Cup.
