What was meant to be the most spectacular opening in electronic music this summer has turned into a nightmare. Just 24 hours before the official kickoff of Tomorrowland 2025, a massive fire broke out at the festival’s main stage, leaving devastation in its wake — and shockingly, injuring one of the festival’s most iconic figures: Martin Garrix.

According to initial reports, the fire ignited during a final round of stage testing late Wednesday night. The structure, famed for its towering LED screens and pyrotechnic setups, quickly became engulfed in flames.
Emergency response teams were dispatched within minutes, but amidst the chaos, a horrifying realization struck: Martin Garrix, who had been rehearsing with his team nearby, was caught in the incident.
“It was like a war zone,” a backstage crew member revealed anonymously. “One moment we were adjusting light cues, the next there was fire everywhere. People were screaming. We couldn’t see anything through the smoke… and then someone yelled ‘Garrix is down!’”
Though early speculation suggested minor injuries, a later update from Martin Garrix’s management confirmed that the Dutch DJ suffered burn injuries to his arm and shoulder. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

The fire was extinguished after nearly two hours, but the damage to the main stage is extensive. Festival organizers have yet to confirm whether the stage will be rebuilt in time for the scheduled Friday opening. However, they did release a brief statement:
“Our thoughts are with Martin and the others affected. We are working around the clock to ensure the safety of all artists, staff, and guests. Updates will follow.”
This isn’t the first time Tomorrowland has faced unforeseen challenges — but having a beloved artist like Martin Garrix, who has headlined the festival for nearly a decade, injured just before opening day, sends shockwaves through the EDM community.

Fans from around the world have flooded social media with well-wishes under the hashtag #PrayForGarrix. Some are even questioning if the festival should pause out of respect.
More chilling still: a leaked video allegedly captured during the fire shows a stage light sparking seconds before the explosion — but its authenticity has not yet been verified.
As the investigation continues, the world waits anxiously to hear whether Martin Garrix will recover in time to perform — or if Tomorrowland 2025 will go on without its brightest star.
